1. Planning on having a wedding rehearsal? Why not invite your wedding photographer. It allows him or her to make a plan
for maximising the photo opportunities of the day. In addition, it permits you to get to know the photographer and get used to be photographed from close by.

2. Perhaps have disposable cameras at the wedding breakfast for the guests This can be a nice thought, but it is worth considering the poor quality of the cameras. Additionally wedding guests do not usually make the best photographers, particularly after a few wedding toasts!

3. Perhaps buy a couple of cheap cameras, digital if possible. Try giving them to certain guests and request they take informal and casual pictures. This task is a good one for young guests in their teens, who can find some of the day rather tedious. Giving them the job of unofficial wedding photographer gives their day a purpose.

4. Consider carrying a miniature digital camera for you both to use, so that you can take impromptu candid photographs, of one another during the day. These pictures often do more at recording the true emotional atmosphere than more formal pictures.

5.Check with whoever is at officiating at your wedding - whether its civil or religious - if there are any restrictions during the ceremony on photography. This is especially important with church weddings as sometimes photography is not allowed during the ceremony or unusually at in inside the church. Banning flash photography is the most usual restriction.

6. Remember that lighting is very important for getting quality photographs of your wedding. The amount and type of light can change from one day to another. Have a plan to adapt your photography depending on the light conditions and time.

7. On my travels around Sussex, as a Brighton wedding photographer, I am often surprised by the lack of planning, that is applied to the average wedding photography. Thinking ahead and being organised, can make a huge positive effect, to the greatest extent.

8. If a lack of funds is a factor, you could try getting in contact with a trainee wedding photographer to take the pictures at your wedding gratis, in exchange for the experience and images for their portfolio. Free advert websites such as Gumtree are a good starting point, but do not expect too much from your photographer, as they are after all doing it for no charge. This is nearly always to be preferable, to getting someone from your family or a friend to be photographer, as in the event of problems, due to bad luck, incompetence or negligence, it will probably damage your friendship.

Following these tips and hints should have some lovely pictures to remind you of your wedding day.
