Picking the right Hampshire wedding photographer is essential to a successful wedding. Unlike the flowers which will wilt and the dresses that will be tucked away, the photographs will last forever. Have a list of what you are looking for before you meet the wedding photographer. This will help them to know right away if a photographer meets their guidelines or not.
Never book a photographer over the phone. Their portfolio will show you the style of work they normally shoot in. Look at the style, are all of the photos you see single shots of the bride or groom? If you find some of the photographs gloomy while you want yours to be brighter, talk to the wedding photographer about your concerns. Talk to a friend or family member about what you are looking for and invite them to the meeting. They can help you make sure you are getting what you want. Do you want formal photographs or casual ones? Maybe you want a mix of both, but you must have an idea before the meeting. Know the groups you want photographed, including photographs that might not include the wedding party or family. Are all your old work friends coming who you haven’t seen since you left? Do you want a photograph of only your cousins together? These special pictures are important to keep in mind.
Place yourself in the photographs you see in the wedding photographer’s portfolio. If these were one your wall, would you be happy? Look for variety. Look for shots far away and close up. Are all the photos far away? Check the edges and background in the photographs and make sure the set ups are clean even. Take in examples of photographs you like and talk to the photographer about their ideas.
Make sure the wedding photographer is qualified and find out their experience. If the wedding photographer has LBIPP, ABIPP or FBIPP after their name then they are professionally qualified. Ask about the unexpected. How will they handle your photographs if it snows? Are you okay with their ideas? Check to see if your wedding photographer has Professional Indemnity insurance cover in the event that your photos need to be retaken.
